"Above all else have courage and honor." That is the life and leadership philosophy of Robert Cormican, Senior Vice President of Compliance, Quality and Training. Bob feels so passionately about his philosophy that when his three sons were teenagers, he bought each a signet ring engraved with “CH” as a constant reminder. His sons are adults now, but two still wear the rings.

After serving in the Air Force as an aircraft crew chief and doing a tour of duty in Vietnam, Bob used his GI bill to go to college. A native Georgian, he chose to go to school at Georgia State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance.

Bob has spent more than 25 years in the insurance industry. His first job in the industry was in the mailroom of Atlanta Casualty Company. He’s come a long way since then, holding positions overseeing operations, finance, human resources, compliance, legal, sales, marketing and underwriting.

Before joining Crawford, Bob was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for AssuranceAmerica Corporation. Prior experience also includes Vice President of Agency Operations at Prudential Property & Casualty Insurance Company and Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Southern Heritage Insurance Company.

Bob worked with Tom Crawford, President and CEO of Crawford & Company, at Southern Heritage and Prudential. According to Bob, he and Tom have the same viewpoint when it comes to leadership. “In every place I’ve ever worked – while people may not have liked my decisions at times – they always knew that I would be fair and honest and have a real sense of integrity,” said Bob. In comparison, acting responsibly with honesty and integrity is the very first bullet of Crawford’s mission statement.

Bob oversees and furthers development ofCrawford’s training facility and manages quality auditors and the corporate quality system. He is responsible for identifying and tracking regulatory changes and develops, implements, and maintains policies relating to corporate compliance. “My goal is to restore Crawford’s status as the premier trainer in the industry,” said Bob. “Quality will follow since training and quality go hand in hand.”

On weekends, Bob spends his time working in the yard at his home in Alpharetta, a suburb of Atlanta, GA. He also enjoys reading fiction novels. Bob and his wife Nancy also frequently take weekend getaways to the North Georgia Mountains and rent a cabin. In fact, they enjoy it so much that they take the whole family – all three sons and their families – to the mountains for a weekend each year.
