For over 20 years the Insurance Scholarship Foundation of America (ISFA) has been proud of its service to the insurance industry by “promoting excellence in the insurance industry by underwriting the education of current and future employees”.
Since it was founded in 1993, ISFA has awarded over $460,000 in academic scholarships to men and women pursuing a college degree and to professionals in the insurance industry working to enhance their knowledge and careers. ISFA also supports The Institutes National Honors Program Award of Academic Excellence and Distinguished Graduate Award for the AIS Program.
The long downturn in the economy has had a devastating effect on philanthropy and investment income. After years of cost reduction measures and multiple fundraising attempts, it has become increasingly more difficult to sustain the Foundation. The ISFA Board of Directors has made the decision to dissolve the Foundation and donate the remaining funds to the Brantley Center College of Insurance at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. The decision comes after considerable review, discussion and with great difficulty.
We wish to express sincere appreciation to all members of Founder’s Circle for their support over the years. The goal is to close the Foundation at the end of 2015. Any outstanding pledges or sustained giving will be considered closed as of 1/31/2015.
